4 Top Tech Tools that Save Time, Money, and Sanity

Today’s busy world makes it almost impossible to keep balance, especially for people with families. I have two kids, three dogs, one husband, a house to manage, and several business ventures, so I am always on the hunt for ways to minimize tasks and free up time during the day.

I’m not what I would call a “techy,” but I have come to rely heavily on technology to make my life easier. And in a virtual sea of cyber options, finding the right tools can be overwhelming. I’ve put together a shortlist of my favorites that I’d love to share with you today!

1- Fiverr

Fiverr, according to their website, “is a global online marketplace offering tasks and services, beginning at a cost of $5 per job performed… the site is primarily used by freelancers who use Fiverr to offer services to customers worldwide.” I absolutely ADORE this site. Since I am not an expert with how to use WordPress, Camtasia, or graphic design programs, I use Fiverr to help me with websites, branding, editing, and all other things technological. You will be amazed at the variety of expertise on the site, and I am sure it will be a welcome addition to anyone from busy moms looking for cute gift ideas (cartoon portraits) to entrepreneurs looking for a social media strategy. Keep in mind it is smart to vet candidates.

2- Virtual Assistant

There are several virtual assistant sites out there, but my favorite is Upwork.com. As a busy mom and entrepreneur, I can’t get too much help, and when I’m completely overwhelmed with projects I reach out to get virtual assistance. If you’ve never tried it before, you may be a little shy, wondering if some random person can help you get things done faster (and maybe even better!) I encourage you to give it a try… start with something small and you can build up to bigger projects. That way, you can also try a few different people to see who you jive with best.

3- GoodACguy.com

One of the greatest time-sucking tasks I have is trying to find good service people. So I would be remiss if I did not mention GoodACguy.com. It does all the work for me… with tons of reviews about HVAC contractors in an industry that is riddled with suspicion. Since air conditioning and heating service and parts can be very expensive, it’s essential to find people you can trust. Good AC Guy has a certification process for its contractors that involve a background check, so I feel completely comfortable having them at my home. I also love GoodACguy.com because it has a lifestyle blog that gives me great ideas for the house (and my life ;).

4- Alexa

Ok, so Alexa (Amazon Echo) isn’t exactly an app, but she has an app to go along with her. And I’m serious when I say that I’m in LOVE. Not only is it wonderful to have this mini virtual assistant play all kinds of music on demand, but she can add items to your shopping list and even turn the lights on and off in the house. The kids love it because she tells jokes. The pure entertainment value Alexa brings to my home is worth every penny, but the functionality makes it my personal favorite!
