Is the Secret to Finding your Happy Place in Life as Simple as Surrounding Yourself with Dreamers & Doers?

Have you ever noticed when you are around happy, positive people, it instills positivity in you? Happiness can be a powerful aphrodisiac, and seemingly by design. As a matter of fact, according to the Harvard Business Review, strong social support correlates with an astonishing number of desirable outcomes.

I will never forget the day when I was heading into my regular 6pm yoga class, and in walked legendary Wayne Dyer! I had read his books, listened to his podcasts and meditated to his mantras. To me, Dr. Dyer bordered on being a deity. Practicing near him was incredible, motivational and awe-inspiring. Even if what I was experiencing was some imaginary form of osmosis, I felt stronger just being next to him and my yoga practice was stellar. In fact, it was better than ever.

There is an infectiousness that comes from positivity––whether it’s an aura, or simply a sincere smile or laugh. Conversely, the same holds true for pessimism or lack of enthusiasm. Negativity and mean-spiritedness can create a downward spiral in self-esteem and morale that even the most positive of people can succumb to.

It’s probably safe to say we’ve all experienced a toxic influence at one time or another in our lives. And, if you haven’t, consider yourself fortunate. It can take its toll. I once worked for a company whose CEO’s daily practice was to walk the floor of the office and tell each employee what they were doing wrong that day. He had numerous similar habits that he relished enforcing, and as a result the turnover was astronomical. Conversely I’ve worked in corporate environments where CEOs empower and elevate their employees success which translates to increased productivity and profits.

The point here is that our environment and the people we surround ourselves with are impactful. I would argue that with whom we choose to surround ourselves is one of the most important decisions we can make for our families and ourselves.

Your environment and the corporate culture you are exposed to can have a positive or negative impact on your health and happiness. In order to put your best foot forward, we all need to create an environment that cultivates success.

It may be time to ask yourself: are you with who you would like to become? Or at least with those who you respect and admire?

I recently launched a lifestyle blog for startup, which helps connect consumers to screened air conditioning pros––and while launching a new endeavour is incredibly rewarding and exciting, the pace with which is needed to propel success can be demanding. Fortunately I find encouragement and inspiration from this amazing group of fellow entrepreneurs and blog contributors––Good Life Gals––with whom I work daily.

Each of these women inspires me beyond words. I believe they make me a better me! Whether it’s sharing a motivational mantra, exercise regime, or morning routine––these women rock. I have no doubt that surrounding myself with these dreamers and doers, is one of the reasons for swift and steady progress. Positive influencers can up your game and redefine your results.

Fellow entrepreneurs, moms, homemakers, and masters of multi-tasking, Dale Noelle and Amy Biederwolf share some personal tips on positivity in the accompanying video. And Amy speaks to entrepreneur Jim Rohn’s mantra, “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.”

If this is the case, I can honestly say, “Bring it!” It’s a blessing to be influenced by these Good Life Gals… they are amazing ambassadors of achievement!

The Good Life Gals helps empower women through networking, mentorship, enrichment and education. Check out the calendar of upcoming events and join our mailing list at
